Project:  New Opportunities for Safe Winter Adventures

Description: The Action is designed to further promote socio-economic development of the wider Ohrid-Prespa cross border region through sustainable tourism development, with particular aim to create business opportunities both for the urban and rural areas of the wider region by diversification of the tourist offer and promotion of high safety standards in tourism. With a set of proposed infrastructural improvements, product development and promotion, capacity building measures and strengthened cross border stakeholder cooperation new safe adventure tourism products in the wider Ohrid–Prespa CBC region will be developed, to serve as a base for new economic opportunities for the communities in the targeted region. Interventions are planned with consideration of the principles of sustainable development which is of utter importance for the internationally recognized valuable heritage of the Ohrid-Prespa region. More specifically, the Action will address the problem of unused potential for adventure tourism i.e. limited offer in terms of diversified tourist products, short tourist season limited to the summer months and the unbalanced and non-inclusive development of the wider cross border area around Lake Ohrid.
